Weber began as a metal works factory in 1893 based out of Palatine, Illinois. In 1952, George Stephen, a part-owner of Weber, became frustrated at the unevenness and uncontrollability of the flame on his grill. He set out to design and manufacture a grill that allowed you to control the flame and had an enclosure for heat insulation. What he created was the very first Weber kettle grill. Soon, Weber metals became Weber-Stephen Products and started to produce Weber grills. Today, Weber has become so successful that the very name is synonymous with the word “grill”.
